This is what propelled me to do an hour of aerobics BEFORE work today.
"Hello, Thank you for calling [Local Catholic School], how can I help you?"
"Um... I'm calling about a notice I saw... for a... 2 mile... race, in... *gulp*... April?"
"Oh, sure! What can I tell you about it?!"
"Um... is it too... competitive? I mean, you see, it's maybe going to be my first race, and I kind of want to know what I am getting into."
"Well, let's put it this way. Bringing up the rear is usually a line of mommies with baby carriages."
"I think I can beat that. And it's, what? $10?"
"Yep! And that includes the t-shirt!"
So I did it. April 17. Right now, I have the urge to say EAT THAT B-WORDS, but it's Lent, so I can't.
2 miles is nothing, y'all. I have been maintaining 3.2 (!) with very, very little walking. I'm going to be fine. I just have to stop myself from picturing winning. I will NOT be winning. Only goal is to finish. Don't care how long it takes. Don't care if the stroller-mommies beat me (of COURSE that is a lie). It's just about finishing.
My first race! YEAH!

I'm sorry, the only way I'm running is if a monster is chasing after me. And even then, it's a guy in a mask and he would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids!

I would totally run that with you if I were there. I could handle 2 miles... I think.

I would run that with you if I were there! I don't run, nor exercise but I might be able to actually finish that race... last place behind the strollers but definitely a finish

I wish you were here!!! If I get Totally Radically Fabulously Awesome at this running thing, I could go to Chi-town for a marathon.
But that is highly unlikely to happen. Alas.
Last night, my dad was all, "Wow, this is great! What's your goal?"
Me: "Um... I, um... well, it's my first race. My goal is to finish."
Dad: "At least in under 1/2 hour, right? I mean, that's a brisk walk."
Me: "I know, but I sometimes jog slower than I walk..."
It's all good.
